let me guess:

you miss the creativity you had when you were a kid.

because right now, you’re thinking things like this:

I FEEL GUILTY BECAUSE I CALL MYSELF AN ‘ARTIST’ BUT I'VE NOT MADE ANYTHING IN MONTHS.

I'M FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I’M NOT FINISHING ANYTHING I START.

I TRY AND THEN GIVE UP 10 MINUTES LATER BECAUSE THE INSPIRATION JUST ISN'T COMING.

I KNOW WHAT I’M CAPABLE OF. I JUST CAN’T SEEM TO FIND THE TIME OR CONFIDENCE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.

MY INNER PERFECTIONIST RUNS THE SHOW.

I PROCRASTINATE MAKING ART BECAUSE I JUST FEEL LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IS MORE IMPORTANT.

Why not show up for your art this summer?

hi, I’m Olivia! your Scrappy Art School teacher.

You bring the craft, I’ll bring the container.

Scrappy Art School gives you the framework to practice creative consistency. I’ll provide:

The Container

  • a 12-day ‘art sprint’ that challenges you to prioritise quantity over quality

The Inspiration

  • we’ll collect ideas and seek inspiration from the 2005 film, Pride & Prejudice (yes, really!)

The Accountability

  • online live classes

  • creative co-working

The Community

  • a dedicated group space to share your work and connect with other creatives on the programme

…so all you have to do is focus on showing up every day and creating.

“It pushed me to do work I’d really not tried before and it paid off. I got my first commission”

— Emma, Term 1 Student

“I really enjoyed it. It inspired me to prioritise my personal art practice and to step out of my comfort zone.”

— Ana, Term 1 Student

“Scrappy Art School was amazing. It was so nice to have the space to relearn how to create for creating sake and also be held to account to actually do it!”

— Remi, Term 1 Student

“Scrappy Art School was a great way to keep my creative practice consistent and focused with Olivia's guidance and a small community of people trying to do the same thing.”

— Maggie, Term 1 Student

Prioritise your creative practice with Scrappy Art School

Show up and create every day with Scrappy Art School’s art sprint, supported by live classes & creative co-working.

An art sprint is a dedicated period of time where you show up and create something every single day. It can be in any medium, but it’s all about creating consistency, building accountability, and banishing your artistic fight-flight-freeze with momentum.

01

Live Classes & Creative Coworking

Get inspired, share your ideas and synthesise new ways of working with the live classes and creative coworking sessions, which are a mixture of lecture and practical creative exercises (which are useful AND fun!).

02

12 Day Art Sprint

Learn the magic of consistency, making bad things on purpose, and banish your artistic fight-flight-freeze with an art sprint: creating 12 pieces of art in 12 days, inspired by Pride & Prejudice.

03

Online Chat & Syllabus

Get accountability and stay inspired with the extra support of to a Discord chat group and resources/replays from class.

dive into a world of ready-made inspiration

Each term, Scrappy Art School uses a piece of pop culture as our central ‘text’ for projects and classes.

Through exercises, discussions and play, we'll use it as a gateway to a world of inspiration.

Stay focused on the art of showing up.

Other creative classes provide fully open briefs or self-directed prompts that put most of the creative decision-making back on you.

Scrappy Art School chooses a film — rich in dialogue, visuals and story — as a central inspiration source, so your original work always has a starting point, and you can swap ideas with fellow students.

Together we’ll notice the little & large details (a hand touch! a boiled potato!) and use them to fuel our art sprints.

It makes the decision of ‘what will I make today?’ much smaller, so you can focus on showing up and making something.

Term 2’s Pop Culture: Pride & Prejudice

Make 12 pieces of art in 12 days.

are you ready for the challenge?

An art sprint is a container where we create something every day, and prioritise quantity over quality.

As the sprint progresses, you start thinking and creating differently.

It takes dedication, but the rewards will stay with you long after those 12 days.

If you’ve been craving a challenge, this is for you.

hey, I’m Olivia!

Whether it's writing 100 songs in 100 days, or collaborating on a collection of Craiglist-inspired songs, I am an artist who LOVES a kooky challenge.

I'm also a creator who has learned about the magic of showing up and trying.

Over the years I've discovered how my practices of keeping notebooks, delving into visual worlds and staying curious has kept my creative spark alive and kicking.

Scrappy Art School is my excuse to create the art class I always wanted.

It combines what I've learned from songwriting, improv, poetry, and writer-teachers like Lynda Barry, and give artists the tools to create wildly and recommit to their practice.

Oh, and make art about Mr Darcy. Because it’s fun.

past Scrappy students said…

“I learned that you can mine loads of ideas from just one thing. Which is really exciting/inspiring.”

“This forced me to be consistent and make something on repeat!”

“I’ve been prioritizing my projects more than I was— they are important!”
